- Motor Bearing Lubricants
Motor bearing experience high radial and low axial loads during their operation, however the loads could be fluctuating owing to the motor being frequently switched on and off. High temperature (upto 80 °C) and excessive vibration are some other aspects that needs to be considered whilst selecting the right lubricant. High vibration can lead to the grease loosing consistency and oozing out of the applied area and eventual bearing failure.
Developed on high quality base oils, BECHEM’s range of textile mill motor bearing greases possess excellent oxidation stability and ensures long term lubrication. The speciality range of textile mill motor bearing grease can withstand high temperatures and provide consistent lubrication to the friction partners in spite of high vibration.

- Draw Frame Top Roll-End Bushes
In a typical textile draw frame, bearings in the ‘top roller end bushes’ are designed to rotate at a speed of 750 to 800 mpm (meters per minute). If the grease fails to perform its function or oxidizes before the re-greasing interval then rising bearing temperature would impact hardness of the mounted rubber cots. This in turn would affect the evenness and quality of drawn silver.
BECHEM’s range of speciality grease possess superior lubricating properties and controls temperature of the bearing when compared to regular greases for draw frame bushes. Also while the regular practice with conventional lubricants is to grease the bearings daily, re-greasing interval with BECHEM’s range will be only once a week. High performance grease with high speed index for high speed applications operating in low temperatures. Metallurgy of the gear box set up is diverse with presence of phosphor bronze, steel and white metal bushes, the lubricant should be compatible with these metal pairings. The lubricant should also be able to inert to possible entry of cotton fluff and inhibit foam formation.
BECHEM recommends the Berusynth GP range of synthetic oils for the application of comber gear box that provides high strength film for contact surfaces and does not rupture under high loads.

- Knitting Oils
The special anti-wear additive package within the knitting oil range Staroil KNT 22 and 32 helps in reducing severe friction and wear during the emergency run conditions of the knitting machine such as start-up and shut- down phase thereby increasing the productive life of needle and sinkers.
Additionally, the Staroil KNT range of knitting oils have lower volatile losses thereby ensuring lower oil consumption per machine per day. Action at the needle and sinker section and the need for a high performance knitting oil
The frictional partners of needle and sinker continuously endure high-speed movement and need a special lubricant to avoid friction and wear.
Needle and sinkers constitute a major portion of the regularly replaced spares of the knitting machine. Life of the needle and sinker is critical to keep production and operational costs down. In order to reduce wear and increase needle life, the lubricating oil should be able to form a thin yet strong film between the narrow clearances of the sliding contact.
Maximum wear due to friction occurs during the machine start up and shut down, considered as emergency run phase. Additives used in the formulation should help reduce co-efficient of friction in order to provide emergency lubrication during emergency runs
Operating temperatures of around 75 °C is a standard norm in modern machines owing to high operating speeds and smaller clearances. Lubricating oils should not form any residues under these operating temperatures
The centralized pump within the circular knitting machine is a precision equipment. Metered dosage of knitting oil in small quantities is pumped along the diameter of the cylinder. The knitting oil should not react with sensitive rubber sealing and plastic tubes in the system.
Modern knitting machines are expensive and typically have a high quality paint finish. The aesthetic look of the machine indicates good care and maintenance practice. The knitting oil should remain inert and not react with paint or other machine coating
Due to the location and arrangement of friction partners, traces of lubricating oil can splash onto the knitted fabric. However, these oil stains should be easily washable and not impact the dyeing process

These regular grinding oils with high viscosity reduces the grinding wheel’s cleaning ability and as a result the grinding wheel does not cut enough.
Tool grinding process generates a lot of heat. The gradual rise in temperature between the workpiece and the wheel leads to microcracks in the tool, grinding burns and reduce the grinding efficacy of wheel. The tool grinding fluid should provide optimal lubrication to reduce frictional heat, clean the chip out of machining area, enable higher grinding speeds and metal removal, provide cooling to avoid thermal damage to the grinding tool and workpiece.
Cobalt Leaching While Carbide Grinding
Another critical aspect that comes into play while grinding carbide material is release of cobalt into cutting fluid (here grinding fluid) known as cobalt leaching. The cobalt leaching process is initiated by chemical or electrochemical reaction between the carbide surfaces and environment. Loss of cobalt leads to weakening of carbide structure and further accelerating the leaching process. Cobalt is toxic, to inhibit leaching it is important that cutting fluid provides quick heat dissipation and contains the additives that are required to deter the cobalt leaching process.

- Tube Drawing Oils
The Copper tube drawing process has many important factors that affect the quality and precision of formed tubes, such as die angle, drawing speed, reduction ratio, effective lubrication etc. Precise operational parameters can reduce uneven deformation and excessive residual stress, preventing intrinsic defects, surface cracks and wrinkles.
During the drawing process as the copper tube passes through draw die and over the ‘internal diameter (ID)’ mandrel, the surface of the tube extends to a great extent. Lubrication plays a critical role in minimizing friction and temperature rise at the work surface in order to achieve higher process efficiencies and product quality.
The lubricant needs to reduce friction and manage temperature by forming a resilient film that can withstand high surface pressures between the workpiece and draw tool.
Impact of ineffective lubrication on tube drawing
Drawing oil that cannot endure surface pressures can lead to friction, rise in temperature, accelerate die wear and ultimately result in poor surface finish and defective cracked tubes
Lack of lubrication can result in breakage of the mother tube during the interim drawing processes of pilgering, spinner block and straightening, leading to line stoppage and affecting operational productivity
The lubricant quality can affect surface blackening and result in tarnish on the drawn tube. Removal of undesired residues on the ID and OD of the tube is a tedious process

Material handling equipment in heavy industries constantly operate under heavy as well as shock loads with constant exposure to dust and moisture. In a recent tribological study of bearings in various applications at raw material handling section, it was observed that inappropriate lubricant selection was the most common cause for bearing failures causing downtime and loss.

Noise dampening kit
The kit contains carefully selected lubricants for specific interior automotive components of super premium cars that are prone to rattle and squeak over a period of time and operation. The ‘noise dampening kit’ is an outcome of a joint project by BECHEM in addressing the challenge of ‘undesired cabin noise’ faced by a premium car manufacturer. How can we optimise lubrication consumption in Crusher mill bearings?
Journal bearings at cane crusher mills operate in boundary and mixed lubrication regime due to slow speeds and heavy loads. Traditional lubrication approach has been to continuously pump the conventional lubricant to avoid metal to metal contact between the frictional surfaces and thereby undesired wear. Additionally water is continuously pumped to reduce bearing temperatures. This approach however results in significant lubricant consumption as well as a messy shop floor.
To provide effective lubrication and thereby reduce consumption, a lubricant with high base oil viscosity that can form thick film between the shaft and sleeve and thereby reduce metal to metal contact is required.
Why should you consider Berulit SM Super for Crusher Mill bearing ?
Specially developed for high load applications, Berulit SM Super has high base oil viscosity of 2500 cSt which enables it to form a thick film between the contacting surfaces and thereby significantly minimizing wear rate of journal bearings.
Multiple field trials have proven reduction in consumption by 8 to 10 times when compared to conventional bituminous oils and by approximately 30% against low viscosity greases and high viscous oils.
Due to inherent properties of this special grease, minimal lubrication is sufficient to maintain the ideal bearing temperature. This also eliminates the need for external cooling of bearing and also reduces loads on ETP.
How does shock loads impact mill bearings? Can lubricants mitigate its impact?
Due to the nature of operation, shock loads on mill bearings are unavoidable in the crushing area. Conventional lubricants that are unable to withstand such extreme pressures, ooze out under these conditions allowing the contact surfaces to absorb the impact. Repeated impact of such loads might result in burn marks and cracks in the bearing. Lubricants with good EP properties can help mitigate the affect of shock loads on the bearings.
The special additive package along with high base oil viscosity, equips Berulit SM Super with a high load carrying capacity of over 8000 N. Additionally solid lubricants as additives, provide emergency lubrication properties and thereby guards bearing from critical loading conditions.
How to avoid abrasive damage to the shaft ?
Conventional greases are thick and have a tendency to hold onto contaminants during regular crushing operations leading to abrasive wear on the shaft and sleeve. An ideal lubricant for the crushing mill application should not only be able with withstand high loads but also possess good flushing and pumping properties.
Berulit SM Super is a fluid grease with excellent flushing property. Additionally, the fluid grease based on special metal complex thickener that has superior pumping properties in comparison to other thickeners has excellent flow-ability and pump-ability.
